Two Arrests Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
The assault caused the temporary shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the T3 car park.

An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by what is thought to be an irritant spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, the force said.

These detentions come after a probe into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the attack, two women had stolen from them their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was one of the those hurt in the event. Five people went to hospital for medical care and were later released.

Officers arrested a 31-year-old man for suspected robbery and assault near the location. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were alerted at about 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of people injured by an irritating chemical thought to be an irritant spray.

The assault - which authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park briefly.
