He stated that the ministry is “investigating” Chinese vehicles within its fleets, however noted that security is a concern in all contemporary vehicles.

We have a collection of tens of thousands of vehicles in the MoD and Chinese ones represent a tiny fraction.
However regardless of if you’re driving a vehicle from China or a car from another country, what we’ve asked our people is to avoid connecting MoD devices into their car, not to have discussions at a classified classification in any kind of car, due to the growing risks of surveillance that exist in every single automobile, to only have those confidential conversations in secure locations. This is a prudent and reasonable thing for everyone concerned about safety.

When it was put to him that it would be prudent for the ministry to stop using every cars from China, the minister responded: That is precisely what we’re investigating at the moment.”
